San Francisco Giants left-hander Alex Wood has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with back pain, MLB Trade Rumors reported on Friday (June 5).

“Wood joined San Francisco in 2021 안전놀이터 on a one-year, $3 million deal and was a big part of the Giants’ run to the National League West title,” the outlet said. In his first year, Wood took the mound 26 times, going 10-4 with a 3.83 ERA.

His impressive first year earned him a two-year, $25 million contract with San Francisco. However, his performance fell short of expectations. In 26 games last year, he went 8-12 with a 5.10 ERA.

This season, he’s made eight starts, going 1-1 with a 4.80 ERA. He was placed on the disabled list in mid-April with a hamstring injury.

With Wood on the disabled list, right-hander Tristan Beck was given a big league call-up. Beck made his big league debut this season and has one save in 10 appearances. He has a 4.10 ERA.

“It remains to be seen if Beck will take Wood’s place in the rotation or if Sean Manaea, who was demoted to the bullpen, will get the start,” the outlet reported.
