AI Peppers announced on July 7 that it has completed the relocation of its clubhouse from Yongin, Gyeonggi-do to Gwangju Metropolitan City. AI Peppers has set up a training center and players’ training facilities within its home stadium, Pepper Stadium. The club and coaching staff offices will also utilize Pepper Stadium. Accommodation will be provided in an apartment within walking distance of the stadium, with a restaurant and treatment room for players.
With all the necessary facilities for the team’s operations and training in the Gwangju area, the team will be able to truly call Gwangju home.
After its official launch in September 2021, AI Peppers needed a training facility for its players as soon as possible to compete in the Dodram V League in the 2021-22 season. For this reason, the team has been renting a facility in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, rather than its home city of Gwangju. The move will reduce the players’ travel distance by around 2,000 kilometers per year, which is expected to improve their physical condition and allow them to focus on training in a more comfortable environment.
With the relocation of the clubhouse, AI Peppers will have more opportunities to interact with fans in its home region and will also implement various initiatives to develop volleyball culture in the region. On June 10, the team and more than 300 Gwangju residents will participate in a plogging event to clean up the local environment by taking a walk and picking up trash in honor of June’s Environment Month.
The team is also planning events such as fan signings for the residents of the neighborhood where the team will be staying. The team is also expected to have closer exchanges with amateur volleyball teams in the Gwangju area and youth clubs operated by AI Peppers.
“We are very happy to be able to truly settle in Gwangju, our home city, and thank Gwangju City for helping AI Peppers receive a lot of love and attention from the local community,” said Kim Dong-un, CEO of AI Peppers. “Through this move, we will put more effort into settling and expanding the volleyball culture in the local community and reaching out to fans in the local community.”
Meanwhile, AI Peppers will also provide additional accommodation for the team in the suburbs of Seoul, so that players can travel to Seoul for personal business without any inconvenience.
