Choi Ji-man (Pittsburgh Pirates) missed three consecutive games.

Choi Ji-man was supposed to play as first baseman in the 2023 Major League Baseball away game against the San Diego Padres held at Petco Park in San Diego, California on the 25th (Korean time), but was reported to have missed the game due to poor health. Instead, Carlos Santana played first base.

According to Jason McKee of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Santana was supposed to rest on the day. With San Diego right-hander Darvish Yu on the mound, manager Derek Shelton decided to make Choi Ji-man the first baseman. However, when Choi Ji-man informed Shelton that he was ill, Shelton asked Santana if he could play, and Santana said “100%”.

Santana hit two homers on the day to lead the team to an 8-4 victory.

Meanwhile, San Diego’s Kim Ha-seong also hit multiple homers on the day.

Kim Ha-seong fired a solo gun and a two-run gun in the 1st and 5th innings, respectively.

At the end of the first inning, Kim Ha-seong, who started as the lead batter, hit Pittsburgh starting pitcher Quinn Prister’s 149 km/h four-seam fastball on the third pitch and hit a solo home run that went over the fence in the middle of the inning. He was the season 13 hopo.

Kim Ha-seong, who backed off with a grounder from shortstop in his second at-bat at the end of the third inning, pulled up Prister’s 4th pitch 135km/h slider from 1st out and 2nd base at the end of the 5th inning, trailing 1-8. It was his 14th home run of the season.스포츠토토

Ha-seong Kim, however, went on base with a walk in the 7th inning and attempted to steal second base, but failed.
