Of all the center backs being linked to Manchester United, Kim Min-Jae (Napoli) has the best track record.
The center-back has been on United’s radar since October of last year. The interest reportedly intensified during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Upon his arrival in Italy’s Serie A this season, Kim was named defender of the season. He also earned a spot on the team of the season. That’s a double win. After moving to Fenerbahçe in 2021, he dominated the league and quickly rose to the top in the big leagues. He was one of the key players in helping Napoli win their first Serie A title in 33 years.
However, the player has attracted interest from a number of big clubs outside of Manchester United and is expected to face fierce competition 안전놀이터 for his signature. Recently, it was reported that ‘newcomers’ Newcastle United are considering signing Kim. The club is looking to bolster its defense as it enters the UEFA Champions League (UCL) next season.
United also have a backup plan if they don’t land Kim. Axel Disassidy is a physically gifted defender who plays for AS Monaco. The French international is a center back who was a surprise call-up to the World Cup in Qatar and was also selected for the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers in March.
The British publication Tribuna compared Kim Min-jae and Disassi based on their stats from last season, with Kim having the edge in most cases. His passing success rate was 91%, with 73 completed passes per game, compared to 84% (42) for Disassi. Tackles and interceptions were also higher for Kim (1.6 and 3.5 per game, respectively) than for Disassi (0.8 and 2.9). Disassi’s only higher number was 1.5 interceptions, just ahead of Kim (1.2). However, he also lost possession more often (9.7) than Kim (8.1). In terms of clean sheets, Kim has 14 and Disassi has 9.
The outlet said, “Kim is a better center back than Disassi. His defensive contribution is much better. His forward passing accuracy is also impressive. He would be a perfect fit for Eric Tenhagh. United should sign him at all costs.
