It’s a day Gibraltar goalkeeper Dale Colling will never forget.

France cruised to a 14-0 victory over Gibraltar in their Euro 2024 qualifying Group B match at the Allianz Riviera in Nice, France, at 4:45 a.m. ET on June 19. With the win, France consolidated its position atop the group.

France, ranked 198th in the FIFA rankings, proved too much for Gibraltar, ranked second in the FIFA rankings. Gibraltar fell behind in the first three minutes on an own goal by Ethan Santos. From then on, it was a nightmare for Gibraltar until the end of the game.

In the third minute of the second half, France increased their lead through Marcus Touraine. Warren Zaire Emery, making his A-match debut, opened the scoring in the 16th minute to put his name in the record books as France’s youngest ever goalscorer.

At 3-0 down in the first 16 minutes, Gibraltar had lost all hope. To make matters worse, Santos, the man responsible for the own goal, was sent off in the 18th minute. After a brief lull, France came out firing in the 30th minute when Kylian Mbappe scored from the penalty spot. Jonathan Klose in the 34th minute, Kingsley Coman in the 36th minute, and Yusuf Fofana in the 37th minute joined the scoring column. The score was 7-0 at halftime.

In the early stages of the second half, Gibraltar looked to be doing well to keep the French offense at bay. However, they started to crumble again when Adrien Rabiot scored in the 18th minute of the second half. Two minutes later, Coman scored again.

Even at 9-0, France had no mercy. Ousmane Dembele scored in the 28th minute and Mbappe in the 29th to set a new record for the most goals in a single game in the history of soccer’s A-match. For the goalkeeper, Colling would go down in history as the goalkeeper with the most goals conceded in a single A-Match.

Colling’s misery didn’t stop there. In the 37th minute of the second half, Mbappe picked up the ball near the halfway line and immediately attempted an ultra-long-range shot. Mbappe saw that Colling was out and went for it. Colling took a backward step and tried to get a shot away, but the ball went into the net. France added two more goals from Olivier Giroud and cruised to a 14-0 victory.

The post-match assessment was even more shocking. Soccer stats site Footmob gave Colling a shocking 0.9 rating after the game for conceding 14 goals. In a typical game, a player’s rating rarely drops below 4, even if he’s wrecking his team. Santos, who made things difficult for his team with an own goal and a sending off, has a rating of 3.3. 무지개토토 도메인
