Jang started against the Samsung Lions in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Jamsil Baseball Stadium on Nov. 23, giving up four runs on seven hits in five innings with 70 pitches, no walks and four strikeouts to reach 130 career wins.

Battled Samsung hitters with a fastball that topped out at 140 mph and averaged 139 mph, a two-seam fastball (31) and a slider in the low 130s 토토사이트 (24). He also mixed in a changeup (10), fastball (4), and curve (1). His fastball topped out at 141 mph.

Jang made his first start in 958 days since October 7, 2020, against the Incheon SSG Landers, and went for his 130th win, which had eluded him for 1844 days since May 5, 2018, when he earned his 129th career victory. Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop and his teammates, as well as the player himself, wanted Jang to be the winning pitcher.

It was a good start. In the top of the first inning, Jang struck out the top of the order of Kim Ji-chan, Kim Hyun-joon, and Koo Ja-rook. Things seemed to be going smoothly for Doosan as they took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a Jose Rojas sacrifice fly to center field with the bases loaded.

However, their dreams of a comeback were dashed in the top of the second inning when they surrendered four runs. Jose Pirela and Kang Min-ho gave up back-to-back singles to put runners on first and third with no outs. Kang then hit a bunt down the first base line, but first baseman Yang Seok-hwan’s throw to first allowed Pirela to score from third to make it 1-1.

Jang Won-jun’s pitches kept coming. With runners on first and third, he gave up an infield single to Kim Tae-gun to make it 1-2, and with runners on first and second, he gave up a double to right-center to Lee Jae-hyun to make it 1-4.

Jang did not back down easily. As Lee had predicted, Jang gave up four runs, but he chose to keep him in the game instead of replacing him. It was a Tuesday game, so he also had to consider bullpen overload. Jang gave up another hit to Pirela in the top of the third, but he was able to get out of the jam without giving up a run.

Then the bats exploded. In the bottom of the third inning, they scored five runs to make it 6-4. After back-to-back singles by Yang and Yang Seok-hwan put runners on first and second, Rojas followed with a double to left and Kim Jae-hwan with a single down the right field line to tie the game at 4-4. In the ensuing two-out rally, Song Seung-hwan doubled to left center to tie the game, and Lee Yoo-chan followed with an RBI single to left center to extend the lead to two runs.

Jang Won-jun, who had the win-loss record, remained steadfast on the mound. From the moment he gave up a leadoff single to Oh Jae-il in the top of the fourth inning, the Doosan bullpen began to warm up, as Kim Myung-shin promptly retired Kim Tae-gun on an infield single to shortstop. In the top of the fifth, Kim got Kim Ji-chan, Kim Hyun-joon, and Goo Ja-rook into another triple play to end the inning.

It had been 1798 days since Jang Won-jun had pitched five innings since June 20, 2018, when he gave up six runs in five innings against the Jamsil Nexen Heroes (now Kiwoom).

With his mission accomplished, Jang Won-jun was replaced by Park Chi-guk in the top of the sixth inning. Now it’s up to the bullpen juniors to protect Jang’s 130 win requirement for four innings.
