FC Seoul’s K League 1 flanker Willian scored a wonder goal to lead his team to victory. It was his second consecutive goal and third in his last four matches.

Seoul won 1-0 at home against Gangwon FC in the 15th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2023 at Seoul World Cup Stadium at 4:30 p.m. on April 28. Willian’s goal in the 27th minute of the first half proved to be the game-winner. With the victory, Seoul bounced back from a two-match winless streak to once again start fighting for the top spot.

The hero of the game was Brazilian international Willian, who deftly won an aerial ball contest with the opposing defense near the center line in the 27th minute, then dribbled alone for about 30 meters before scoring with an orbital shot. Hwang Ui-jo’s move to draw the defense to the side was good, but it was Willian’s breakthrough that stood out, as he took advantage of the defense’s timing to shoot with his right foot.

Willian made his Korean debut in 2019 스포츠토토 when he joined Gwangju FC in the K League 2, and after stints with Gyeongnam FC and Daejeon Hana Citizen, he moved to Seoul this season. He made his K League 1 debut in 2020 when Gwangju won promotion, but only scored five goals in 17 games. This season was his second attempt at the top flight.

In his first three games with Seoul, he appeared as a late substitute. However, he was unable to find his form due to a hamstring injury. While we were excited to see what Crack could do in the K League 2, there were questions about whether he could do it in the K League 1.

However, after making his first start in the 9th round against Gangwon, Willian gradually improved his form and increased his playing time. He regained his confidence by scoring his first goal of the season against Gwangju in the 12th round, and found the back of the net again against Jeju United in the last round.

Once he was settled in, Willian ran around like fish out of water for 62 minutes in this game. He improved his chemistry with his teammates and actively participated in the defense on the flank, and eventually scored a wonder goal, showing his super crack and repaying Ahn Ik-soo’s trust in him.
