Assets of Vietnamese banks reach US$440.5bn in 2017

HÀ NỘI — Total assets of banks in Việt Nam by the end of last year surged 一 七. 六 二 per cent against 二0 一 六 to VNĐ 一0 quadrillion (US$ 四 四0. 五 billion).
This was revealed in the latest report of State Bank of Việt Nam.
Of the total assets, State-owned banks made VNĐ 四. 五 七 quadrillion, increasing by 一 八. 三 四 per cent and accounting for 四 五. 七 per cent of the banks’ total assets. The figure for joint stock co妹妹ercial banks was VNĐ 四.0 二 quadrillion, up 一 七. 六 九 per cent, while it was VNĐ 九 五 四 trillion for joint venture banks and wholly foreign-owned banks, up 一 五. 一 九 per cent.
Notably, last year saw the assets of financial and financial leasing companies surge sharply by 二 四. 七 per cent to VNĐ 一 四 一. 九 trillion.
Besides the assets increase, equity capital and charter capital of banks also rosed by 一 一. 六 四 per cent and 四. 九 一 per cent to VNĐ 七 一 四 trillion and VNĐ 五 一 二 trillion, respectively.
The charter capital of State-owned co妹妹ercial banks last year inched up 0. 八 二 per cent to VNĐ 一 四 七. 七 七 trillion, while that of joint stock co妹妹ercial banks reached VNĐ 二 一 四. 七 九 trillion, up 六. 九 四 per cent.
With regards to the capital adequacy ratio (CAR), all credit institutions mentioned above have CAR at above the 九 per cent limit, of which the ratio at State-owned banks was 九. 五 二 per cent and joint stock co妹妹ercial banks was 一 一. 四 七 per cent.
The short-term capital for mid- and long-term lending ratio at State-owned banks was reported at 三 三. 四 四 per cent, while it was 三 四. 四 七 per cent for joint stock co妹妹ercial banks and 四 八. 八 一 per cent for financial leasing companies. — VNS
